With her deep background in the discipline of art history, Isabelle Cornaro explores different systems of reproduction and symbols in art history through her works, challenging the way viewers perceive artworks. She once pointed out that “all objects are related to the representation of nature and the construction of images. “The dismantling and reconstruction of images has been an important methodology throughout Cornaro’s artistic practice to a certain extent.
Her work has always revolved around the entanglement between what is represented and what exists, what is consumed and what is contemplated, what is indexed and what is disseminated. This exhibition will explore how she reinterprets classic art and constructs new artistic languages through systems of signification and reproduction. By analyzing and interpreting the use of images and symbols in her creative process, Isabelle Cornaro will guide the audience to explore the cultural, social and political significance behind these images and their rules.
